House of Communication
The Third House in Astrology is referred to as the House of Communication. This house is ruled by the Constellation Gemini, the planet Mercury, and focuses on communication, perception, learning and understanding. This house also will rule relationships with siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and communities. Also, this house can rule over your social life and short travels. Communication is so important in daily life. It is how we learn and is key to understanding anything. We must be able to effectively communicate.
Since communication is key, here are some outlets of communication that we all relate to. School, TV, newspapers, books, and the internet have all had influence on us. The way we perceive and learn stems back to school and early education.
Early Education
Early Education is a big part of this House. We learn from an early age how to talk, spell, and write. These basic learning tools will be with us forever. This is literally how we communicate. What we were taught early on will mold the way we see the world. The way we interact with our schoolmates, teachers, family, and community is learned early on. While at school, we picked up communication skills. This is our language. We took what we got from teachers and books and formed an opinion about the world. Family did have influence as well, but we spend 8 hours a day at school, so it has a huge influence on us our most important years. We all had a different experience with school, but it no doubt formed the way we communicate and learn.
When you get older, you can pick and choose what you take in and leave out, but early on, you may not have a choice to what you are subjected to as far as, curriculums and teachers. Communication and education go hand in hand. You may not have a choice early on, but once you can expand your mind, it is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
Family and Community
Once you leave school for the day, you go home. That is the next place you will spend the most time, besides school. The Third House in Astrology rules siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, and community. These things all have influences on you and your learning. Depending on where you were raised, how large or small your family and community are, these themes have such strong influences on you. It is in our face in social media daily. We have to decipher what is real and what is not. When you learn perception, you can better maneuver through life and see what is real and what is not.
Travels and Social Media
The third house rules over travel and social life as well. This can be helpful when you are looking to travel. You can look up the best time to go. A time NOT to go is when Mercury is in Retrograde. When this occurs, look to see when it ends and book the trip after Mercury is out of retrograde. This happens a few times a year. When Mercury is Retrograde, communications can be difficult and travel should be avoided. If you absolutely have to travel, take precautions and know delays or cancellations could occur when Mercury isn't direct. This could explain any travel issues. Look to see what Mercury is doing.
When we do travel, boy, we love to show off on social media. Social sites are everything. You can see the world on your phone. The third house rules over social life. This is where we live out our social life, online. You can look up anyone and see a glimpse of their life just by scrolling through some social media posts. This has changed the way we communicate. We can get all kinds of information without actually talking to anyone. We can visually see what you did last night and never speak directly to you. This is amazing and scary at the same time. Technology has changed communication and perception. What we see on socials is not always the truth. Social media is the perfect perception example. Be careful and do not let the perception of social media make you believe that life is like that 100% of the time.
